Walk around the Block sketching

In this the 1st in many sketching art classes I will be teaching- we will be exploring abstract drawing. Each step in this sketchbook series is a building block for the next. We will be breaking down images into basic shapes, then adding color and mark making to enhance each art piece.
Abstract art is art that does not attempt to be a realistic depiction but instead uses shapes, color and mark making to achieve a visual effect that portrays your original inspiration.
During this class we will first be doing our homework -taking a series of walks-around the block, any old block, it just needs to have vegetation, flowers, plants, trees, of all sorts.
Supplies
You’ll need
a sketchbook or art journal with lots of empty pages! pencil & eraser, black waterproof pens in a variety of sizes, colouring mediums of your choice
(I’ll be using markers, art crayons, gouache, colored pencils and whatever else tickles my fancy)
and your phone camera
As always, my classes are held in private Facebook groups with the same name as the class
