Aunt Judy
Introducing Aunt Judy!
Aunt Judy is quiet strength. She is fortitude. She is a tender heart. She is simply quite extraordinary. Aunt Judy has had tremendous challenges in her life and has handled them all with such dignity and grace. She is a fighter for herself and those she loves, but she fights with a quiet grace that is made of steel. Aunt Judy is kindness personified. She is a daughter, mother, aunt, great aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, Anishinaabekwe, tribal elder, friend, and was my Uncle Gary’s sweetheart.
Much like the bee she produces honey from the simplest of things. Just like bees she believes individuals should help relatives. And in her family, like a bee colony, she is their queen.
I have been the recipient of her kindness my whole life. I was a flower girl in her wedding. I have sought her advice at her kitchen table more times than I can mention and her tender heart is always there for me.
