Shelli
Hello flower series is inspired by my sweet English friend, Stacey-as, “Hello Flower” is how she greets me every single time she sees me-it always warms the cockles of my heart! I LOVE flowers! I wear them in my hair, have a bouquet on my kitchen table every week from my amazing husband and draw them every chance I get!
When I dreamed up this printable concept, I envisioned my artwork traveling all over the world.
SO…
Shelli and I met on the school bus on our way to Munger Elementary, I was getting ready to start 3rd grade and she 2nd. Our connection was immediate and long lasting. We would go on to spend countless hours at each others homes, giggling, listening to entire record albums over and over, helping each other with chores, learning to drive stick shift pick ups, and making a lifetime of memories. Our moms were also great friends which made it all even more special. Now we can’t ride our bikes to one another’s homes, but we keep our friendship going, we know the importance of nourishing it. We recently had a conversation about how much we would have LOVED texting, back in the day! Shelli helps me in more ways than she can ever possibly know-I am drawn to her as much today as I was on that first day on that long bus ride (we lived way out in the country). I still want to know how she sees the world, am still delighted to see her name appear on my phone, and what is the best cream to use on my face. Shelli is and has always been a make up artist extraordinaire! I am ever so grateful for her sweet presence in my life, I count it as one of my most treasured gifts. She gets me through, even when she isn’t aware, know what I mean. I love and adore you, Shelli.
This art printable was drawn as a tribute to my dear friend Shelli. But it serves another purpose too, it is a contribution to a cause very close to my heart-mental health awareness. The semi colon means the sentence continues and serves a message of hope and love to those who struggle with mental health challenges. I wanted to create artwork that embraced the beauty I saw in this little character’s job. So, as a nod to the semi colon, I drew paisleys-look close, you’ll see the semi colon.
Enjoy!
