Lena
Hello Flower series is inspired by my sweet English friend, Stacey-as, “Hello Flower” is how she greets me every single time she sees me-it always warms the cockles of my heart! I LOVE flowers! I wear them in my hair, have a bouquet on my kitchen table every week from my amazing husband and draw them every chance I get!
When I dreamed up this printable concept, I envisioned my artwork traveling all over the world
SO…
Lena is the grandmother of my childhood friend Donna. We called her Grandma Dyjak. She was the absolute sweetest person, I think I have ever met. She was kind, generous, patient, hardworking-and fun!
One year at Easter time, Donna asked me if I would like to come over to Grandma’s house to decorate Easter eggs-I said absolutely and road my bike over. Once I got there, I noticed that Grandma’s table held a bowl of blown eggs, and some tools that I had never seen before. A most wonderful afternoon was spent with Grandma and Donna showing me how to create Ukrainian eggs (pysanka). Drawing teeny tiny wax designs with the wooden handled styluses, then dipped into colourful dye, then more wax imagery was drawn with the stylus and the egg was dipped into another color of dye. The process was repeated and repeated, dying colors from lightest to darkest. Once the final color was done, the egg was heated up and the wax was wiped off to reveal the beauty underneath. I was so proud of myself even though my egg didn't hold a candle to Donna or Grandma’s. I have carried the warm memory of that afternoon ever since. What an honor!
So in Lena’s honor, I drew these Ukrainian eggs to raise funds to help the Ukrainian people. I will send money raised from the sales of this art printable to fellow cardmaker Yana Smakula, a Ukrainian citizen and one of the most talented cardmakers around! I will do my part to help, because Grandma Dyjak was such an example of helping others.
Every piece of artwork on this website is original. I have drawn them all with a pencil and paper. This art printable is for your personal use only.
